Age is determined by actual age as of January 1st of the competition year.

To reach the average age of the entry, add all of the ages together and divide by the number of dancers in the entry. When averaging ages, always DROP THE DECIMAL POINT. For example, if a routine averages to an age 10.7, you would drop the decimal, therefore, the routine would compete in the 8-10 yr. old category.

**NEW TO STREETZ**. Routines that utilize dancers from different age divisions will compete no more than one age division younger than the oldest dancer in the routine, regardless of the routine’s average age. Example: if a production number includes a 17 year old dancer (senior) and the average age of the routine is 12 (junior), the group will compete one level above in the teen category.
2 WAYS TO COMPETE
COMPETITIVE - Entries compete against other dances for critiques, awards, and prizes.
SHOWCASE - Entries that wish to perform only for critiques. These routines will not be scored and will not be eligible for Adjudicated or High Score awards. Great for beginning dancers and performance groups.

PERFORMANCE DIVISIONS
JAZZ - Primarily jazz technique, utilizing uptempo music.
BALLET - Primarily ballet or pointe technique, including classical steps and movements.
TAP - Primarily tap technique. Routines demonstrating clogging technique may not compete in the tap category.
HIP HOP - A routine utilizing hip hop or street type moves.
LYRICAL - A combination of jazz and ballet techniques to slow music incorporating emotional and storytelling elements.
CONTEMPORARY - A fusion of many jazz styles with a strong emphasis on modern technique.
MUSICAL THEATRE - Consists of Broadway/theatre dance styles
JAZZ FUNK - A routine utilizing a jazz foundation with the movement and footwork of hip hop.
BALLROOM - Primarily ballroom technique that utilizes traditional or modern ballroom styles.
OPEN - Consists of all other categories or a combination of multiple categories. Not sure? call our office.

Judges reserve the right to change the performance division of a number if they feel it is incorrectly placed.

ENTRY LIMITS
Please see your corresponding City Page at www.TheStreetzDance.com for specific entry limits for your tour city!
STREETZ STAGE
FRIDAY COMPETITION
Streetz Stage is 40' x 28' with wings (if venue allows).
IMPORTANT: If there are too many entries to compete all the routines on Saturday, anyone registering for a solo or duo/trio must be available to perform on Fridays after 3:30pm. If THE STREETZ decides to schedule any solos or duo/trios before 3:30pm on Friday and a routine decides not to perform, THE STREETZ will provide a full refund. In a few rare circumstances, there might be a Group Competition on Friday starting at 2pm. If this happens, we will do our best to notify the studio at least two weeks prior. Another rare circumstance could be holding a portion of the competition on Thursday starting no earlier than 5pm. If this happens and a routine decides not to perform, a full refund will be issued.
PROP REQUIREMENTS
Streetz welcomes general props to our competition! However, the use of props is the sole responsibility of the studio. Props must be placed and removed from the stage within 30 seconds combined by the studio. It is also the studio’s responsibility to ensure the stage is left clean and clear following their performance. Teachers, dancers and parents are more than welcome to help with props as long as the judges cannot see any studio affiliation. Please refrain from using fire or helium balloons as well as props being thrown into the judges area and/or audience. Streetz cannot guarantee props over 10’h will fit on the stage. No paint or liquids can be used as props. No liquid or paint will be allowed.
FAMILY FRIENDLY ROUTINES
THE STREETZ realizes that dance and art cross a broad range of styles, taste, and appropriateness. However, THE STREETZ is a family event and our event will reflect this type of view. Each judge's critique sheet has a check box for appropriateness and a 5 point deduction for each judge that checks this box. If all 3 judges check this box the routine may be disqualified.

HELPERS ON STAGE DURING NUMBERS
You may have “helpers” (dresser, human props, etc) on stage during a routine. Every person on stage must perform in the number and be seen by the audience for at least 2 counts of eight.
“Helpers” must meet the following requirements:
1)must re registered as a student or assistant teacher for the entire convention.
2)must be registered as a performer as performer and have fees paid for any competition entries they perform in.
•All numbers must appear according to their scheduled sequence unless a STREETZ stage manager grants permission otherwise.
•In the event that an entry is choreographed by one of the judges, he/she will only critique the entry and then his/her "score" will be the score that gets dropped. The other 2 judges scores will be averaged to create the dropped score.
•Judges may stop a number in progress and request that it be repeated. If Streetz' equipment fails, the studio may choose to continue or to re-do the number. If performers' equipment fails, excluding music CDs, the performance must continue or be withdrawn.
•Competing dancers should be ready 1 hour prior to their scheduled competition time. The Competition may run up to 1 hour early and each dancer will be expected to perform at the earlier time. Also, please keep this in mind if you are leaving the competition and plan on returning for Awards. A quick way to check to see if we are running early is to tune into the livestream at livestream.com/thestreetzdance.
•All Streetz attendees authorize the use of their images in photos and video for any and all Streetz' purposes.
•In the event that a Streetz Company Member would like to compete, they must follow the 50% company rule policy. The rule states, if 50% or more of the dancers in the dance are company members, the dance may not be classified as competitive. It must go into the showcase division. If less than 50% of the dancers in a number are Streetz Company Members, the dance may enter the Competitive division. For example: a company member may not compete a solo or duo, however, a trio would qualify as competitive if they are the only company member in the dance.
-
Dancers and routines may compete in more than one regional city. However, solos that win 1st Overall and group routines that won "Best of City" award (top scoring group of the 12 and under and 13 and up age divisions) during the regional season must be registered as “Showcase Division” for Adjudication only for the 2nd + city.

JUDGING
The judges may choose to move a number into a different category (example, from Open to Jazz, etc.) based on dance style, The Streetz rules, etc. There are no penalties or deduction when this occurs. The decision of the judges is final.
JUDGES CRITIQUES
Score sheets and video critiques will be uploaded to your studio accounts no later than Tuesday after the event. Printed score sheets are available upon request.

STUDIO LEADER CRITIQUES
This season, Streetz is enhancing the competition judging experience at most regional cities by introducing a new type of judge to the panel who's job provide Studio Leader Critiques. Distinct from the other two judges, this third judge, offers personalized and direct feedback to the studio owner, teacher, and/or choreographer. The feedback spans various elements like costuming, age-appropriate music and choreography, prop usage, story development, as well as suggestions for staging, formations, confidence, and connection with each other and the audience. These Studio Leader Critiques will provide additional insights by addressing topics that may not have been covered by the other two judges who are honing in on aspects of the routines like dance technique, performance, dynamics, and musicality.

By entering The Streetz Convention and Competition you accept that the decision of the judges is final.
BACKSTAGE CONDUCT
A 10-point deduction will be taken from your score for misconduct in the dressing room and/or the backstage area.
Each number will be judged by video critiques that will be uploaded to their competition account on thestreetzdance.com. Videos will be upload no later than 1 week after the event.

In the event that the judging system or microphones go out during a dance number, Streetz is not liable to give a full refund.

If a judge questions the appropriateness of a routine, 5 points may be deducted. If all 3 judges question a routines appropriateness, the routine may be disqualified from the competition
